The Digital Nomads Who Still Have Much Traveling To Do

Where we’ve been and how we plan where we go

July 8th: Do you love to travel? Where have you been and where would you like to go? Do you book online and self plan or do you get the help of a professional?

As digital nomads, all we do is travel. Well, sort of. It’s a little trickier for us at the moment. My partner and I are both disabled and we both receive a stable disability income from that. We had just spent a little while at the previous travel center we were staying at in the greater Erie area.

We have our mail and our appointments set to Erie, Pennsylvania so we’ve had to spend a lot of time in this specific area. For the summer, if our bodies and our minds allow, we’d like to try and actually travel around a little bit.

I’m waiting for the renewal of my license to come in the mail in the next week or two. Additionally, both my partner’s birthday (July 16) and my birthday (August 1) are coming up soon. We would definitely like to be on the road for that.

At this very moment, we are planning out our travel center (truck stop) route until we can fully leave the area then we just travel around and find places to park wherever we can and are allowed to while taking in all of the sites throughout the Midwest and possibly more of the Northeast and New England.

We will be finding campsites, parking spots, and open land wherever we go to just sit and rest every time we need to. The road will take us where it will. Our tiny home has a brand new engine in it that Mike replaced last autumn so our rig will be running for years to come, probably even outlasting us.

When we do travel and when we have traveled, we always look online and search out areas ourselves. There is no need to get a professional involved when you have two smart and resourceful minds in the same vehicle sitting together year-round.

Whenever we’ve wanted to go somewhere specific, I always use my trusty laptop to tell me where to go and all of the details of a certain area. That’s how I found the campground we stayed at over a week ago and that’s how we find these travel centers every once in a while to stay at when we need to.

I’ve also figured out from this where it’s okay and not okay to park overnight. That’s an important resource when traveling in an unconventional mobile vehicle. I don’t want people to think that we’re up to no good traveling in our home when we’re just wanting to enjoy the sites and rest wherever we can find a moment.

We can’t just park anywhere either. We still have to be relatively close to an internet or mobile signal so that we can stay connected to the network at all times in case of emergencies and needing to reach out. We’re not those types of nomads who can just go out to the middle of nowhere, park near a cliff, and set up camp.

We will continue to stay connected and travel as much as our bodies will permit and enjoy the time together. We will also make sure to take copious amounts of pictures to share with everyone.
