Healthcare Transformation in the U.S.

Healthcare is undergoing a transformation in the US. Driven by several factors, including the fact that costs are not only rising every year but comprises 30% of the national budget. This is due to the fact that healthcare has traditionally been a fee for service model. That means, inherently, that the more things a doctor does or the more times you see a doctor the more revenue is generated, which has led to a spike in healthcare procedures and services.

In the last few years, healthcare has started to transition to the value based model. This means that doctors and hospitals are paid based on patient outcomes instead of the upfront service. This shift is disrupting the industry in many ways.

As we can see, this is an exciting time to be in healthcare. The changes the industry is undergoing towards a value based model will drive improvement and creates an imperative for the new generation of leaders to be versed in topics across the board as well as engaging and transparent.
