How To Clear Your Commit History

Have you ever felt like you’ve made one too many unnecessary commits in a repo and wanted to clear your history as easily as you do in a browser like Google Chrome?

If so, then you’ve come to the right place!

Let’s begin by creating an orphan branch in your repo.

This new branch, aptly named new-branch, will become your new master branch.

Now, let’s add all files to new-branch

and commit them!

You no longer need the original master branch, so you can delete it

and then rename the new branch.

Finally, push your changes to the remote repo!

Congratulations! You have just removed all evidence of wrongdoing! 👍
